Hotel Café Royal

One of London's most iconic hotels

Café Royal has been the place to be in London since 1865. Over the past 150 years, Café Royal has been the setting for a number of important moments in London's cultural and social history. It is where Princess Diana and Winston Churchill dined regularly and where Mick Jagger, the Beatles and Elizabeth Taylor have danced fervently.

Café Royal was transformed into Hotel Café Royal in 2012. A luxurious hotel where guests can enjoy a comfortable and carefree stay and gourmet dinners.

Successful cooperation

Jaap Oudshoorn of OTD access & comfort B.V. has been doing business with Hotel Café Royal since 2011 and also before that with its sister hotel, the iconic Conservatorium hotel in Amsterdam. As a specialist in hotel systems, OTD supplied the hotel locks and doorbell systems with do-not-disturb and make-up room notification in the hotel. To realise a complete solution for both access control, guest presence and control of lighting and climate to complement and extend the existing system, Jaap approached us.

Jaap Oudshoorn: "Following a joint tender for the Galaxy Tower project in Utrecht, I also engaged Helvar Netherlands for Hotel Café Royal. Initially for the extension of the existing system but it was soon extended to the renovation of all rooms. The combination of the Helvar system and access control works perfectly".

Integrated solution

Brian Pellegrom is closely involved in the project from the Helvar Netherlands organisation. Brian Pellegrom: "Hotel Café Royal is a great project for us. The solution we provide to control the lighting and climate with an Eaton module guarantees autonomous operation per room. For management and maintenance of the rooms by the facilities department, we supply the management software and make the necessary integrations. My colleague Wouter van der Post, in close cooperation with the hotel departments involved, takes care of the implementation of the entire project. He really does that perfectly! Thanks in part to his efforts, we are able to realise a system that contributes greatly to the guest experience."
