Commissioning engineer

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will ensure that our lighting control systems function perfectly on site. You will be responsible for commissioning our Helvar systems and software, working closely with the installers. From the preparatory work at the office to the final handover on site: You’ll make sure everything works as it should.

Our projects mainly focus on smart lighting control, but also on the integration of software with other building systems. In addition, you will design user interfaces for devices such as touchscreens and tablets.

Your duties will include:

Commissioning systems on site in collaboration with the installer
Configuring Helvar systems and software
Preparing projects in the office
In-office design and configuration of user interface for touchscreens
Test and deliver the project with the customer and provide the necessary instructions
Troubleshooting technical issues when something isn’t working as expected

Induction programme

During the induction programme, you’ll be prepared to work independently on projects: you’ll attend training sessions, familiarise yourself with the system and the software by trying them out for yourself, and accompany colleagues on site visits to see the system in action.

What your working day will look like:

Preparation
Project preparation takes place in the office: the locations of the luminaires are marked on the lighting plans, the required functionalities are updated in the function matrix, and the touchscreens are set up. This ensures that work can be carried out quickly and efficiently on site.
On the way
You’ll be travelling a lot to and from various sites. Sometimes you’ll be working at a single site for a whole week; other weeks you’ll have several projects a day. All projects are based within your region and are scheduled by your project coordinator. Our projects They vary, ranging from offices and hospitals to sports complexes and other large-scale non-residential projects.
Commissioning on site
On site, you will commission the system independently and check that everything is working correctly: all luminaires and field components will be identified, you will configure the lighting control system and test the sensors. On site, you will be the first point of contact for the installer.
Testing and handover
Once the configuration is complete, you go through the entire system with the client and provide instructions on how to operate it. You walk through the various functions and, where necessary, fine-tune the controls to suit the end user’s requirements.

You are someone who:

Technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and modern software techniques (MBO 4)
Knowledge of, or an interest in, configuring lighting control or home automation systems
Takes a proactive approach and demonstrates a high degree of accuracy
Thinks in terms of solutions
Ability to work independently
Good spoken and written Dutch; English is an advantage
Resides in the Netherlands
